About research

Johan Alvarado Ocampo is a researcher of Centro de Investigación de Enfermedades Tropicales (Research Center for Tropical Diseases), in Universidad de Costa Rica, and is involved in projects at Medical Protozoology Lab: FLA pathogenesis and EV's potential biomedical application. He is also a course instructor at Facultad de Microbiología (Microbiology School) in regional campuses and has participated in several courses from the Parasitology Department.

His education includes a degree in Microbiología y Química Clínica (Microbiology and Clinical Chemistry) (2018) from Universidad de Costa Rica. In 2020 he started a Master's degree in Epidemiology at Universidad Nacional. Nowadays, he is developing his graduate thesis project focused on pathogenic Naegleria fowleri in freshwater and the related social-environmental factors.
